when the world is bad..
A disturbing happening:
I went to mess to have dinner. While I was coming back, I saw four stray dogs playing outside. I sometimes give them chapati in case I find them outside our mess at dinner time.
So I brought four chapatis from inside, one for each of them. I tore two chapatis, each into two pieces and threw the four parts at different locations so that each dog can go and eat his share.
However amongst them, there was this one dominating dog who gulped inside his chapati quickly and attacked another one (who was relatively weaker), the two fought a bit, the weaker one screamed and the dominating one snatched the weaker one's piece from him and ate it too.
the other two stayed off the fight.
and I was in a fix. hated the act of that dominating dog. It was ugly, it was plain injustice happening in front of me and I'd no way to do anything against it. Developed instant sympathy for the weaker one and dislike for the dominating one.
I went a bit away, waited for sometime hoping that the weaker one will somehow come to me and I'll give him his share. However, he didnt come.
The most troublesome thing was how to communicate to him. If I'd picked up some stone to shove off the other three dogs, even this weaker dog would've run away. And if I'd have called him, obviously the other three would've come all along running and same incidence would've got replicated.
however what was more disturbing was the moment when a friend came there and he justified it all saying something which meant "survival of the fittest"
I am not sure if I would support the school of thoughts of capitalism or socialism if ever I face a situation where I've to make a choice. However, I just can not understand why, the four animals who were playing with each other in such a friendly manner suddenly became foes over a piece of food.
It's disturbing, and then that triggered another thought.. look at the world around, even we as human beings are doing the same, perhaps worse. And we're supposedly far more intelligent, wise and noble than animals.
We fight over everything, we want to outdo everyone, we want to get more at the cost of happiness of others.
Economics says- resources are limited, needs are unlimited.
I sort of disagree.
It's not man's needs that resources can not fulfill, it's his greed.
and no economics or policy can control that.. this sense has to come from within.. the conviction, the belief.. in goodness, in the right..
all that I feel like doing right now (btw i'm suffering from a very very bad cough and cold, and have lost my sense of taste, so everything otherwise too is appearing so totally strange) is praying to the God...
Bless this world with the wisdom of making the right choice, taking the right decisions, which work for goodness of not one individual, but for the society as a whole..
ps: will resort to music, the only thing that can make me feel okay right now.. kurban is some new movie, hope it has got some good music too.
peace. prayers. lights. sunshine.
